You labeled the pic '... from the Millennium Tower' but the MT once
planned for London was never built; the really big tower at Portsmouth
is the Spinnaker.
Post by David Brooks
The waterfront and Portsmouth Harbour are dominated by the Spinnaker
Tower, one of the United Kingdom's tallest structures at 560 feet
(170 m).
The London Millennium Tower was one of several ideas for the site of
the former Baltic Exchange at 30 St Mary Axe, City of London that had
been destroyed beyond repair by a Provisional IRA bomb blast.
Status Never built
Alternative names Millennium Tower
Portsmouth's Millennium Tower, as it was originally intended to be
named, was a project conceived in 1995 to design a monument to
commemorate the Millennium celebrations in the year 2000.[8] It
received UK National Lottery funding and was intended to open in late
1999.
The tower was dedicated on 16 October 2005 and opened two days
later.
Personally, I think Spinnaker is a better name for it.

That old 3-masted ironclad down there is the HMS Warrior.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Warrior_(1860)
Post by David Brooks
The restoration process took eight years, during which many of her
features and fittings were either restored or recreated. When this
was finished she returned to Portsmouth as a museum ship. Listed as
part of the National Historic Fleet, Warrior has been based in
Portsmouth since 1987.
Warrior had a two-cylinder trunk steam engine, made by John Penn and
Sons, driving a single propeller[30] using steam provided by 10
rectangular boilers.
The ironclad was ship rigged and had a sail area of 48,400 sq ft
She had the largest hoisting propeller ever made; it weighed 26 long
tons (26 t),[32] and 600 men could raise it into the ship to reduce
drag while under sail.[33] To further reduce drag, both her funnels
were telescopic and could be lowered.[34] Under sail and steam
together, the ship once reached 17.5 kn (32.4 km/h; 20.1 mph) against
the tide while running from Portsmouth to Plymouth.

/I/ wasn't.

Also, in your pic you can see the HMS Victory surrounded by those old
red 18th century bldgs one w/ a white clock tower just beyond which is
the Victory. It isn't afloat; dry docked.

The newer gray roundish bldg near it is the Mary Rose Museum. In an
earlier pic it was older, smaller, rectangular, and had a white roof.
The MRM has a website and a virtual tour.

the Mary Rose Museum
The long history of the Mary Rose, construction, service, sinking,
salvage recovery, and now museum covers 5 centuries from Henry VIII 1511
to the newest opening of the museum in 2013.

The amount of study of her sinking in Battle of the Solent is extensive,
as is the amount of trouble recovering.

You gonna call in the marines now, brother rat? ;) It's only up for 24
hours, if the guy who took it has an issue he can get it taken down...
but he won't need to because I've already done it for him. Yes, that

The view is free for anyone to see. It was taken on an Apple iPhone and

He worked to change the topic from metadata, to edit the photo without
permission (though seemingly without offense and he did do a fine job), and
now will use it to push drama.

Sadly it is predictable.

There will be a reason. We're all getting older and some will be more
lonely now than once they were. Perhaps he needs the company this group
affords. I can understand that and am more than willing to chat with him
on friendly terms, but NOT if he continues to be nasty about you in
every post he makes.

I don't recall him mentioning an interest in photography and the
manipulation of images. Maybe that's an area of mutual interest.

Regardless of the drama around his work, his editing was done well. I have
asked him if he is willing to share some details on what he did. He might have
done a tad bit of "over" sharpening, but I did not download the image and do
not have a copy to verify that. Either way, he did excellent work.

LOL! I didn't do any sharpening, Eagle Eye ;) I did what I said, save
for adding a touch of blue to the sky, which wasn't sharpened, either.
What you call "sharpening" is a byproduct of grabbing the colors that
were *already* available (this provided a contrast that was lacking
becuase it was so washed out).

The free Windows image editor, IrfanView, has a menu option to "auto
adjust colors". One click took 15 secs to produce a result very close
to yours (just slightly more green left in). Not bad on a 1.74 MB jpeg
on this old machine.

Exactly. There are a few ways to accomplish this 'work'. For me, the
first step is often those balance points... which, as I said, are 'soft'
(meaning that the default values used by the PS droppers are not used by
me because what they produce doesn't 'blend' well).

That is great. But it does not excuse how you said you wanted to educate
people on what YOU did, and then you played games over it.

Sure... many ways to play with such an image to improve it. Lots of online
tools.

But Carroll edited it with the stated purpose of wanting to teach others. OK,
usually I do not bite on his "lessons", but I gave him a chance (It was a
topic I actually cared about). So I asked him what he did. He was vague and
then referred to some video he never did provide a link to (that I know of).

Why play such games? He was the one who even said he wanted to talk about it
and teach people.

Actually, I only thought it was DB who wasn't aware of this (I had no
idea you weren't but this wasn't directed at you anyway). I figured,
being that DB claimed he had a new hobby, this might be of interest in
learning about. Now, you've turned it into a "big scandal" ;)

Aware of this what? What you did? Nobody is watching your screen. Nobody
knows what you are doing. Does not mean people don’t know other methods.
Does it mean people might not know the same methods.

If you want to teach about it, then teach. Don’t just mention the tool.
Talk about it. You spoke of having a video. Great! Then give a link. Stop
playing games. Try it for just one week. Please. You might find that your
stupid one-sided war comes to an end.

Of course, that’s why you will never actually talk about the technology.

Save for the sky (less than a minute), I did 10 seconds of 'work' that
*anyone* with a decent image editor can do, it's a starting point. Try
it with that image <shrug>.
The free Windows image editor, IrfanView, has a menu option to "auto
adjust colors". One click took 15 secs to produce a result very close
to yours (just slightly more green left in). Not bad on a 1.74 MB jpeg
on this old machine.
Sure... many ways to play with such an image to improve it. Lots of online
tools.
But Carroll edited it with the stated purpose of wanting to teach others.
Actually, I only thought it was DB who wasn't aware of this
Aware of this what?
??? Aware of "shadow/highlight adjustments", obviously.

Again with your silly snipping. But since I wrote what I did you have
acknowledged you find it hard to describe what you do. You do it by feel
and find it challenging to offer others advice. I can respect that. I wish
you would just said that from the start.

You did speak of a video, and you can show the video which would show more
about what you did though. No need for you to have to struggle with
explaining what you find challenging to describe. Or did you just make up
the idea that you had a video?

No, for me it's stricly visual. The clicking of the eye droppers, that
DB may not have, doesn't involved much in the way of "feel", nor does
clicking the points I choose, which is done visually. This isn't like
drawing on an iPad, where there is "feel" to the stylus, there's
virtually no hand/eye coordination involved, it's just selecting points
by using your sight (that pixel looks to be the 'blackest', this one
looks to be the 'whitest'). If you consider that a "feel"... you do you

That is what I meant when I said "by feel". You do it visually, and have a
hard time describing it in written form. That is fair.

What about the video? Did you really have one or was that more of your games?

I do not recall the shadow/highlights adjustment tool in Photoshop to work the
way you describe. Been a long time since I used it though. Photopea certainly
does not work that way, and it is very much like Photoshop.

To me it sounds like you are describing something closer to the Hue/Saturation
tool than the Shadow/Highlight tool. Again, though, it's been a long time.

So how would I be able to "describe" it to someone else, someone who not
only has a different set of eyes from mine but also has a different
monitor calibration and different lighting?

Can you guess where?!!!
https://imgur.com/gallery/ldx4ETd
Does the image still have metadata attached?
<https://i.ibb.co/jzw9Wrq/white-black.jpg>
(gone in 24 hours)
Don't think he asked for that
You gonna call in the marines now, brother rat? ;) It's only up for 24
hours, if the guy who took it has an issue he can get it taken down...
but he won't need to because I've already done it for him. Yes, that
even means you can't bust me (we both know how you like doing it so you
can add it to your 'list' of things I've had 'taken down' ;)
I really don't understand your mindset.
The view is free for anyone to see. It was taken on an Apple iPhone and
shared with me - and with the whole world. Why restrict the distribution
of such an interesting photograph?
He worked to change the topic from metadata, to edit the photo without
permission (though seemingly without offense and he did do a fine job), and
now will use it to push drama.
Sadly it is predictable.
It may be predictable - but it's not important. <shrug>
He's told YOU why he limited the life. I don't understand (nor care,
really) why he didn't tell me.
I didn't really need to tell him, he already knows. See how he's crowing
about "permission", if left to his own (without me mentioning this) he'd
be talking 'blackmail' (like he did with Gremlin over code Gremlin
wrote!). Ask him again why he doesn't post on the ASC forums ;)

More of your drama. And what blackmail are you even suggesting here? That you
will only talk tech about the image you edited if people give in to some
demand of yours? Have you done that? Whatever.

Why not just talk about the image and what you did to edit it. Oh. That would
not push your drama. You have no interest. Your stated claim about why you
posted that image was to get a focus on such editing, but now you will not
even talk about it.

Prediction: you never will in any detail -- you prefer your drama loops.

In a thread YOU created, entitled, "AZ Code and ethics", you wrote:

My decoder is NOT based on what Diesel said (though I think I could do
that now)... so there is no copyright issue or whatever in the way, but
still, it is not my cypher.

Is it OK to share my encoder / decoder with others?

Of course, if I did and Diesel or others wanted to make a new one it
would be easy to do so, but still, does not seem right to share without
permission (even if not legally wrong). Maybe I should base it on if
Diesel is fair to me... but I do not want to hold it up as "blackmail"
or anything like it.

Open to ideas from others." - Snit

So your babbling about blackmail had nothing to do with the metadata being
discussed.

In short: you pushed MORE of your drama, and to do so you merely copied and
pasted text you did not understand.

never give any evidence you do.

Just another of the idiotic loops you push.

I'm sure DB will want to go to you for all his 'new hobby' needs. LOL!
Anyone using the term "pro" in reference to their web dev skills, who
can't set black/white points in an image editing app, is named Michael
Glasser ;)
Other than trolling, is there anything that snit is capable of accomplishing?
From what I read, he seems to be a total waste to humanity.
To taxpayers, that's an understatement.

As predicted you are pushing drama instead of talking about what you did to
edit the image. Did you even do it? Do you even know the details. I bet you
never give any evidence you do.
Just another of the idiotic loops you push.
You never surprise me with how clueless you are. What I did is one of
the first things most people learn in an image editing app once they
get into color correction. Here's the image from rougly an hour ago, in
<https://ibb.co/8j1pYm5>

MORE of your drama. And likely more of your socks.

You don't need to.

The view is free for anyone to see. It was taken on an Apple iPhone and
shared with me - and with the whole world. Why restrict the distribution
of such an interesting photograph?
You have the photo, don't you? So how is it restricted? I gave you the
24 hours 'heads up' for a reason... to stave off what you just did, yet,
you still did it. WTF?

Don't think he asked for that, but the work is done quite well. Good job.

Not sure what the marines have to do with this or why would they care? Oh. You
are just seeking MORE drama.

Exactly as I predicted.

How is failing existing brain matter tied to failed neuron connectivity
in any way going to lead to meaningful newsgroup conversation?

Dropping support for OS X is obvious. Mike Easter lies so much that he
has a terrible time keeping record of his stories. Or his shills and other
crap. And in response you have nothing but a crack to start a war. Mike
Easter says I'm not 'permitted' to call out their bullshit, and they aren't
going to pay the price for any prior harm they caused. To the contrary,
I'm expected to ignore it all, and play make believe with them so they can
just rehash the process all over again, while they continue to accept no
responsibility for what they say and do in here towards Snit Glasser Michael?

Does the image still have metadata attached?
I don't understand why you didn't answer my question. Would you care to
tell me? Is it because you cannot tell whether or not the exif and
metadata is still there?
It is a curious choice of his.
What's so "curious" about it? I knew he could find the data, I gave him
something better that ties into his new hobby. We 'nasty pieces of work'

It is well done. Carroll, are you willing to explain what prices you used to

Why not read what was written? It was a curious choice that you opted to
ignore the actual request and instead do some image editing (done well, good
job), but then refuse to go into details of what you even did to edit the
image to instead push your drama and accusations and victim games.

All of that is bizarre of you. Can you truly not see it?

You play victim over how you pushes drama so much you did not have time to
actually explain what you did.

My guess: you never will, or if you do it will be in vague terms. You will try
to stretch this out to get more attention and push more drama. You want people
to beg you to explain what you did.

Maybe you did not even do it. No sign you understand much about what was done
to edit the image.

I won't ask Peter Köhlmann how any part of Snit's body tastes no matter
how habitually Peter Köhlmann kisses it. Peter Köhlmann doesn't have any
clue what he is crying about. Peter Köhlmann is the only person I know who
had a 'site' intended to harass me that quickly turned into dancing hamsters
with question marks where pictures/vids used to be, and if you hovered over
it, you would be reading about a old post that was removed for malware.

Do you believe the idiocy Peter Köhlmann is pushing?

I'm not familiar with your 'straight bat' expression. Is that a
reference to the alleged sexual assaults that people have asked you
about? Is a 'straight bat' what I think it is? Ugh...

'Straight bat’ is a cricketting term, usually used by batsmen in the
England Test teams as they get mown down by bowlers from Australia, India,
West Indies, and even Paklist and (be still my heart!) Sri Lanka. Ah, well.
They can still beat Kenya, South Africa, and the Netherlands.

The following table contains all the exif data and metadata info we
could extract from your file using our free online metadata and exif viewer.
Did you feed that site the original as you recv'd it from Jon as opposed
to what one could dl from the imgur.com site? That is, imgur may strip
the exif/meta data.

'We' only had what was available from imgur, not the Jon-sourced .jpg.

You can download what seems to be the original from imgur.

Not sure why Preview did not show the meta data. I am guessing I was just
wrong about it doing so, but I know it shows some. A bit of a mystery.

Carroll is simply refusing to take responsibility for his own words. He
fabricated a claim about you. Maybe it was even simply an error at first. But
he cannot admit to it -- he has to play games and push drama.

What's this "work" you two keep yammering about?

Go to my YT channel and look at the latest (won't be up for long).

As you can see, I added nothing, I just did exactly what I said I did
(minus treating the sky, which is not done here). You can see I'm going
*very* slow here, IOW, when I said this part took 10 seconds I meant it.

My suggestion: Don't take images editing tips from your 'friend', he
needs to 'get a grip', he's clearly imploding... it was only a matter of
time ;)

Work is an activity people do to earn money. Have you never heard of it?

More of your drama, and projecting.

I merely asked you about the technique you used, and complimented you on it.
Why this triggered you is anyone's guess.

LOL! That's rich coming from you. As you must know, there was no money
involved here so why do you two keep using a term that doesn't fit the
description you just gave me? Is this part of your 'teaching people to
read' course? ( that's sarcasm ;)

It does not matter who it comes from. The content is what matters.

I will admit I did play with you a bit here and do you game of taking things
out of context, but you have repeatedly troll me with your nonsense attacks
about my employment, even though you have pointed to one of my employers (and
contacted them) and repeatedly brought up my clients (and lied about them).

You have shown far more evidence of my working than you ever have showed you
do -- but really does it matter? Maybe you are wealthy and already retired.
Maybe I am. Who cares? You feel the need to make personal attacks about things
like that time and time again.

Why not stop for just one week and see how it goes?

Dustin Cook AKA Diesel AKA Gremlin lying about his 1-423-491-1448 phone
number:

<***@1b2yUZpg51V1q.6EF009.jKrc>
-----
Prior to my giving you that cell number, there was no way
at all for you to link it to me in any possible way shape
or form. it doesn't come up in any records search on me.
It is using a recycled number, but damn near everything is
these days so that doesn't count as public information,
snit.
...
As in, the cell doesn't come back to me, wouldn't ever
come back to me, therefore the fact *I* have that cell
number is NOT public information. I find it very hard to
believe that even you'd have difficulty understanding this
concept.
-----

<***@VoX89Pwp95.083.GODrcd>
-----
I've only been sharing whats available via a public
database. You haven't. :)
-----

<***@1b2yUZpg51V1q.6EF009.jKrc>
-----
You cannot find any link to that number to me on any
database. Which makes it private. not public as you
incorrectly assume.
-----

<***@1b2yUZpg51V1q.6EF009.jKrc>
-----
Post by Snit
Your number, even tied to your name, is in a public
database.
No, it's not. You already tried to link the two of us
previously.
-----

<***@1b2yUZpg51V1q.6EF009.jKrc>
-----
It's not a publically known number that links to me. And
he knows that.
-----

<***@1b2yUZpg51V1q.6EF009.jKrc>
-----
The number is NOT TIED TO ME in any public database, in
any way shape or form. You cannot get the number aside
from my having provided it to you via a google search or a
public records search.
-----

<***@1b2yUZpg51V1q.6EF009.jKrc>
-----
Regardless of where the number shows up, it doesn't tie
itself to me, and you cannot associate the number with me
via a google search, OR any number of free/paid public
records searches. Therefore, that is PRIVATE information
that you think you're holding over my head, not public as
you erroneously think here.
-----

<***@1b2yUZpg51V1q.6EF009.jKrc>
-----
It's not, running my name doesn't provide that cell
number. The two are not linked in any way shape or form.
The number itself as is the case with any recycled number
is in all kinds of databases, but it's not linked to me;
therefore, that IS PRIVATE information that you can't get
via a google search or a paid public records search.
-----

<***@889n4Sx8GWE.MNnkz50hZNVS.fh0SYyRp>
-----
They are relevant to the fact YOU INSERTED the phone
number I provided you verbally into a bogus call log video
you've taken the time to create. When I use the cell I
provided you the number for to make outbound calls, It
*ALWAYS* reports Kingsport, TN. Not one single time has it
ever, nor would it have any reason to report Johnson City.
It doesn't pick cities at random, it doesn't go by my
present location, either. That's actually fixed, as is the
number assigned to the phone.
-----

<***@4uMkH0FFER6s72gSy7J8N4B67.Mht3WTC373bt67J31gn>
-----
You didn't even score the right city, Snit. And, the
correct city is common, public knowledge with the regulars
here. The moment you unblocked 'Johnson City' in your
videos, you were busted.
-----

<***@gt3i2B7y.5N0FOv3e210vLOej4O4doj8b>
-----
David, every single Address you've posted that's supposed
to be mine has been Kingsport. Not Johnson City. Don't you
think you should tell snit that was a fuckup on his part
by now? :)
-----

<***@3R4NM89td0T86C.231IPkH>
-----
His response to that was to file a report with the
kingsport,tn police. Well hell, why not the johnson city
ones? That's where he claimed the call said it originated
from. :)

Most sites will do it for you automatically, though in the past at least some
posted it first and then removed the data -- this left a window where someone
could find it. I have used third party tools to remove it in the past -- here
is one:

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/exifpurge/id784466108

Pretty sure that is the one I was using.
